JCP Youth delivers programs to young people who are at-risk or vulnerable in our community, positively influencing their environment and personal network, and equipping them to be leaders in their communities. Their program has had significant success with young people who are disengaged or ‘on the radar’ for police and the wider justice system.

In 2021, Downer in Tasmania became the first major corporate partner of JCP Youth. Our support will allow JCP Youth to support an additional 10 young people each year through its BEAST program, a positive mentorship program for young people aged 11-17 years. We have also partnered with the organisation to create a community of support so anyone, anywhere can help change the lives of young people through a donation.

You can donate here to help make a difference to the lives of young Tasmanians.

JCP Youth is led by inspirational Tasmanian and 2020 Young Tasmanian of the Year Will Smith:

“Our aim is to inspire and empower at-risk and vulnerable young people to become extraordinary leaders who positively contribute to our communities.”

Downer is proud to be partnering with the Glenorchy Jobs Hub to create brighter futures for job seekers in the municipality.

The Hub is a partnership between the Glenorchy City Council and the Tasmanian Government and aims to connect local job seekers with local employers.

Downer have made a series of pledges to the Glenorchy Jobs Hub to help ensure the service thrives and to provide real opportunities for job seekers.

The Middle Road underpass in Devonport was a particular target for graffiti. To help prevent that, we engaged mural artist, Robi Glimar, to work with students from a local school to paint a bright and colourful mural using elements from the regional landscape.
