Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer since July 2010

Mr Fenn has over 20 years’ experience in operational and financial management as well as strategic development. He joined Downer in October 2009 as Chief Financial Officer and was appointed Chief Executive Officer in July 2010.

Prior to joining Downer, Mr Fenn had a 14-year career at Qantas Airways Limited during which he held a number of senior roles and was a Member of the Executive Committee for 10 years. These roles included Executive General Manager of Strategy and Investments and Executive General Manager – Associated Businesses, responsible for the Airports, Freight, Flight Catering and Qantas Holidays businesses.

Mr Fenn is currently a Director of Sydney Airport Limited and he was previously Chairman of Star Track Express and a Director of Australian Air Express.

Mr Fenn holds a Bachelor of Economics from Macquarie University and is a member of the Australian Institute of Chartered Accountants. He worked at KPMG for eight years before he joined Qantas.

Mr Fenn lives in Sydney.

Michael joined Downer as Deputy Group Chief Financial Officer in May 2014. He was appointed Acting Chief Financial Officer in April 2016 and Chief Financial Officer in October 2016.

Michael has held a range of senior finance positions in a career spanning 25 years. He was previously VP Finance for ASX listed explosives group Dyno Nobel and more recently held a number of portfolio CFO positions for a large private equity fund.

Michael trained as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young.

A respected and distinguished industry leader, Sergio brings a wealth of executive management and senior leadership experience spanning 35 years across the infrastructure, transport and utilities sectors.

Sergio is Chief Executive Officer of Downer’s Transport and Infrastructure division, having held previous roles of Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer of other Downer businesses over the last decade.

Sergio’s career at Downer commenced with the acquisition of RPC Roads Pty Ltd in 2003 where he had been General Manager. Prior to working for RPC Roads, he held senior management positions with CSR Emoleum.

Sergio is a leader focused on safety, delivery, relationships and thought leadership and holds a Master of Business Administration and a Certificate in Mechanical Design.

Brendan has extensive experience in operational management and strategy development within the engineering, construction and maintenance sectors. He joined Downer in February 2016 and leads the Mining, Energy and Industrial Services Division which has operations across Australia and major mining regions worldwide.

Prior to joining Downer, Brendan had a distinguished 28 year career with John Holland.

Brendan is committed to safety leadership and has developed and led key safety leadership and performance improvement initiatives focusing on management leadership, high risk activity management, governance and verification and effective employee engagement programs. Brendan is also committed to developing people and has championed a number of programs including executive development, supervisor development, national graduate and apprentice programs and Engineers for the Future initiative.

Brendan holds a Bachelor of Engineering, Civil (Honours) from the University of Queensland, a Master of Business Administration from Deakin University and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Minerals Council of Australia and FIE Australia.

Steve was appointed CEO of the New Zealand business in January 2017. He is a senior executive and director with over 25 years’ experience in the delivery of social infrastructure including transportation, water, energy and communications.

Steve joined Downer in 2004 and he has held a number of senior operational roles including Executive General Manager, Northern Region and Executive General Manager, Infrastructure. He was a member of the New Zealand leadership team for eight years. Prior to his appointment as New Zealand's CEO, he was Downer’s Group Executive Manager, Strategy and Development. Before joining Downer, Steve held senior positions in both consulting and contracting businesses in the UK.

Steve holds qualifications in business, management and engineering including a Master’s Degree in Engineering Studies from Auckland University.

Peter Tompkins was appointed Company Secretary on 27 July 2011.

He joined Downer in 2008 and was appointed General Counsel in 2010.

Previous to this, he was a Senior Associate at Corrs Chambers Westgarth and a Lawyer at Cridlands MB Lawyers.

He has qualifications in law and commerce from Deakin University and is an admitted solicitor in New South Wales.

Peter lives in Sydney.

David Cattell was appointed Group Head of Strategy, Growth & Innovation in early 2015.

Previously, he held Executive roles within Downer, including Group Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer of Downer Infrastructure.

Mr Cattell has more than 25-years construction, infrastructure project management and senior management experience.

Mr Cattell holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) degree and Masters of Business Administration.

Julie joined Downer in 2010 as General Manager Zero Harm for the former Works division’s Australian operations. In 2012 Julie was appointed to the role of Executive General Manager Zero Harm responsible for leading the function across Downer Infrastructure Australia. In 2013 the scope of this role broadened to include Downer Infrastructure’s international operations. In 2015, Julie was appointed Group Head of Zero Harm, responsible for Zero Harm across the Downer Group.

Julie is a highly experienced health, safety, and environment professional and has led safety functions in various high risk industries. Her background includes law enforcement, rail, mining, heavy manufacture and transport.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Safety as well as a Master of Engineering Science in Manufacturing Engineering and Management.

Michael has over 20 years’ experience in media and corporate affairs and has advised a number of leading Australian companies and organisations.

His previous roles include Vice President Corporate Affairs at Brambles, Head of Corporate Communication at Qantas, and General Manager Corporate Affairs at Westfield Holdings.

Michael was originally a lawyer and then worked as a journalist with The Sydney Morning Herald for five years before joining Gavin Anderson & Kortlang (now Newgate Communications) as a consultant.

Michael lives in Sydney.

Steve joined Downer Rail in early 2012 as Executive General Manager Human Resources. In mid-2013, Steve’s role was broadened to Group General Manager Safety, People and Culture, a role which incorporates all Zero Harm and HR responsibilities for Downer Rail. In 2015, Steve was appointed Group Head of Human Resources, leading the HR function for the Downer Group.

His former roles include GGM Human Resources for Komatsu Australia Pty Ltd, HR Director with Goodman Fielder, HR Director Schindler Lifts Australia and General Manager Industrial Relations at Qantas.

Prior to Qantas, Steve was the Assistant Director Resource Planning for the Royal Australian Navy and prior to this worked in NSW abattoirs resolving industrial disputes for AQIS.

Steve has an MBA from MGSM, is a Board Director with Foodbank NSW and is also a Justice of the Peace in NSW.
