Downer awarded upgrade one for Tibooburra Aerodrome

Downer is proud to have partnered with the NSW government to upgrade one of the State’s most remote airstrips, the Tibooburra Aerodrome.

Located in the far north-west of NSW, this vital piece of infrastructure is critical to connecting regional communities and allows organisations like the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia, NSW Police Force and the NSW Rural Fire Service to provide essential services for residents.

Downer undertook a C320 single 7mm reseal to improve the safety of Tibooburra’s main 976-metre runway, taxiway and apron areas, followed by new airfield line marking.

To successfully complete these works, Downer’s supply chain extended over 2,000km transporting bitumen from Brisbane, aggregates from Broken Hill and a team of airfield construction specialists from across NSW.
