Learn moreIn early 2020, as Australia sifted through the ashes of the worst bushfire crisis in the nation’s history, Downer donated $500,000 to the Business Council of Australia’s Community Rebuilding Trust.
The Community Rebuilding Trust was established to build a permanent capability to mobilise and coordinate the business community’s response in times of tragedy and to act as an interface with Federal and State authorities and established recovery agencies. It has worked closely with the National Bushfire Recovery Agency to provide a range of services, reconstruction support and financial relief.
In March 2021, NSW and parts of Queensland were flooded by the heaviest rainfall to hit the region in nearly a century. As these communities recover from another natural disaster, Downer teams have been on the ground assisting with the clean-up and recovery.
In April 2021, Downer donated an additional $100,000 to the BCA’s Community Rebuilding Trust.
“The funds donated by Downer and other businesses will support individuals, businesses and communities to get back on their feet,” Downer Group CEO, Grant Fenn, said.
“The floods will have long-lasting effects on many communities and Downer will continue to support them as they rebuild.”
