Downer’s own Joseph Genrich has been named the 2024 Welding Professional of the Year at the Welding Australia Awards.

Joseph, who joined Downer over a decade ago and has advanced up the ranks to now be known as an Award-Winning Welding Coordinator, right here at our Maryborough Rail Facility working across the fleets that service Queensland’s passengers.

His role has evolved significantly, and today he ensures that welding quality systems meet the stringent requirements of AS/NZS ISO 3834.2 and EN ISO 15085 CL1. Joseph also leads our NATA Accredited laboratory, overseeing both destructive and non-destructive weld testing.

“I’m proud to be recognised with this award, but it’s really a reflection of the amazing team I’ve had the privilege to work with throughout my career,” Joseph said. “It’s a great achievement, and I’m grateful for everyone who’s supported me.”
