Empowering our next generation of female engineers in partnership with CQUniversity

Downer is proud to partner with CQU to provide the CQUniCares Downer Scholarship.

Established in 2018, the scholarship offers $10,000 in financial assistance over two years and the opportunity to build skills and confidence through paid work experience at Downer.

The scholarship was established to:

• Support female undergraduate engineering students at CQUniversity through financial assistance and paid work experience
• Develop the skills the future energy and utilities workforce will require
• Encourage regional students to build meaningful engineering careers close to home
• Strengthen gender diversity across the industry
• Showcase a commitment to community prosperity and opportunity in Central Queensland

Luke Sullivan, Chief Operating Officer of Downer’s Energy & Utilities business, said Downer was proud to invest in the next generation of female engineering talent. 

“With a strong pipeline of work across water, electricity, telecommunications, industrial and power generation, the need for engineers continues to grow. The CQUniCares Downer Scholarship reflects our shared to commitment to growing regional talent, supporting women in STEM fields and enabling communities to thrive,” said Luke.

Applications for the CQUniCares Downer Scholarship will only open from 12 - 27 January 2026.
