Downer Defence Veterans’ Family Scholarships

Imagine being the first in your family to go to university – or finally getting the chance to chase a career you’ve always dreamed of – thanks to the support of a community that believes in you.
That’s the kind of impact we hope to make through the Downer Defence Veterans’ Family Scholarships.
The scholarships support the children and grandchildren of Australian Veterans to pursue full-time tertiary education, helping remove financial barriers and honouring the legacy of service through opportunity.
Applications are now open and close on 31 October 2025.
Scholarships will be awarded based on financial need, academic potential, and deservedness, supporting students undertaking full-time study at a University, TAFE, or Registered Training Organisation within Australia.
Administered by the Australian Veterans’ Children Assistance Trust (AVCAT), the scholarships reflect Downer’s ongoing commitment to current and transitioned Defence personnel, their families, and the communities we serve.
