Downer Group has brought together the expertise and experience of two great companies, AGIS Group Pty Ltd and Envista Pty Ltd, to offer fully-integrated professional and managed services delivering to the Defence and national security and critical infrastructure sectors.
We are finalising the integration of AGIS (acquired in June 2016) and Envista (acquired in March 2018). As we continue to provide market-leading professional and managed services to our Defence and national security customers, we are also extending our capabilities across the critical infrastructure sector.
In bringing together these businesses we have formed Downer’s Defence Systems business.
To us, phasing out the AGIS and Envista names and changing our name to Downer reflects the work we do as a fully-integrated services provider, not only to our existing Defence and national security customers, but to our new critical infrastructure customers as well.
For our existing customers, it’s business as usual. You’ll have the same great people delivering the same high-quality services, with the added bonus of accessing additional capabilities from Australia’s leading provider of integrated services.
Immediately, you’ll start to see changes to logos and brand names in our marketing and communications and from 1 July 2019 we will be operating as Downer.
Downer’s Defence Systems business will continue to be based out of Canberra. We have also boosted our Queensland capability with a new secure facility in Brisbane.

Why are you changing the AGIS and Envista names?
Having brought together the expertise and experience of AGIS (acquired in June 2016) and Envista (acquired March 2018) under a fully-integrated professional and managed service offering, it makes sense to group these two great Australian companies under Downer, Australia and New Zealand's leading provider of integrated services.
Delivered through the Defence Systems business from 1 July 2019, we will continue to deliver high-quality people and market-leading expertise and leverage the experience of the Downer Group.
Has the ownership of AGIS and Envista changed?
Both AGIS and Envista have been operating as Downer businesses since their acquisitions. We are finalising the integration of these two acquisitions with Downer’s other Defence services and they will operate under the Downer brand.
What’s the difference between Downer Group and Defence Systems?
Downer Group employs more than 53,000 people across more than 300 sites. Downer designs, builds and sustains assets, infrastructure and facilities and we are the leading provider of integrated services in Australia and New Zealand.
Defence Systems is a business unit within the Downer Group. It provides a broad range of strategic, advisory and professional services to the Defence, national security and critical infrastructure industries.
Downer Defence Systems helps customers plan, deliver, automate, optimise and protect large and complex assets by leading the way with technology and innovation. The services are delivered through five core practices designed to fit in and around our customers' ecosystem, spanning the asset lifecycle.
Your business unit was previously called Defence Services. Why are you now called Defence Systems?
We provide a broad range of professional and managed services to the Defence, national security and critical infrastructure industries.
We have called our business Defence Systems to reflect the work we do in these sectors.
Has my point of contact changed?
To facilitate the integration of the two separate businesses and to align with our strategic direction, your main point of contact may have changed. We are communicating with our customers who have been affected by any changes. If your main point of contact is different, you still have access to the same high-quality team as before.
When will the name change be happening?
From 1 July 2019 we will use the Downer name and logo. The AGIS and Envista names will still appear on some commercial listings (panels, RFQs, contracts) but will be slowly phased out. We will communicate the changes directly with internal and external stakeholders who are affected.
What legal entity should I be engaging?
You should continue to use the AGIS and Envista legal entities until formally notified of the novation requirements under the respective contract or alternatively, via the respective Commonwealth Business Representatives.
Where do I find Downer on tender panels?
Our AGIS and Envista names will remain on panel lists until the end of the panel term. We will communicate when we have novated our panel listings to a new legal entity.
Does this change impact on existing agreements or contracts?
No. All contracts executed under the former AGIS and Envista legal entities will remain valid. We will work with Defence legal specialists to either novate those engagements across or leave them in place until they expire.
Do the employees of Downer’s Defence Systems business have new email addresses?
No. Our employees will keep their existing email addresses until such time as we migrate them under one system. We will communicate when this change happens.
Does anything change with regards to invoicing?
Not at this stage. We will communicate with customers when changes need to be made to invoicing.
Is there anything I need to do as a result of this change?
Please make a note of this name change, but no other action is required at this stage.
Can we still connect with you on social media?
