Downer in Western Australia
Background
Downer is working with Talison Lithium, a world-leading lithium minerals producer in Greenbushes, 250km south of Perth in Western Australia.
Talison Lithium and its predecessor companies have been producing lithium minerals from the Greenbushes Lithium operations since 1983. The mining and processing operations at Greenbushes have been upgraded and expanded over the decades to increase production and incorporate new technologies as demand for lithium minerals increases.
Talison is currently expanding their lithium processing operations to include a Chemical Grade Plant 3 (known as CGP3) at Greenbushes to enable it to supply the downstream lithium processing facilities of its shareholders currently being established in Western Australia and their facilities in China.
Did you know?
Australia contributes nearly half the world’s lithium supplies and Talison is one of Australia’s largest lithium miners. The Greenbushes area is also recognised as the longest continuously operated mining area in WA (circa 1888).
The project
The Chemical Grade Plant 3 (Project) includes a new crushing circuit and wet processing plant intended to increase processing capacity of the Greenbushes facility by 550 tph (tonnes per hour).
Downer has been engaged by Talison to provide commissioning support as well as plant modification and optimisation ahead of handover to operations for CGP3 with our scope of work including:
- Design and/or site changes not captured in the construction contractor’s scope
- Rectification of defective, non-design related or improvement work
- Completion of outstanding handover works from construction activities
- Modifications to design in-line with operational requirements.
If you have worked on projects in the industrial and resources sector, we want to hear from you!
Downer’s team will consist of a skilled, multi-disciplinary workforce including electricians, instrumentation technicians, mechanical fitters, pipefitters and welders, boilermakers, riggers and scaffolders, and general labourers.
The blue-collar workforce will be supported by a white-collar team of management, project engineers, supervisors and HSE advisors.
- 12 month estimated project length
- 10-12 hour shifts, 14/7 roster
- Camp accommodation provided in Greenbushes
- A culture that puts safety and wellbeing at the forefront
- Bus transport to and from Perth and Bunbury for each swing
Join our supportive team delivering high quality, technical work for our clients and help us set the Talison Lithium mine and the CGP3 project up for success.
