NECA VIC Excellence Award – Commercial Medium Project: Downer supplied, installed, tested and commissioned the electrical services for the redevelopment of the Intensive Care Unit at Melbourne’s Alfred Hospital – the largest intensive care unit in the southern hemisphere.
NECA WA Excellence Award – Environment and Energy Efficiency: Downer met the challenge of the Green Building Council of Australia’s Green Star Rating 4 requirements for electrical and data/communications fit out for Perth’s General Post Office building.

Spiire was awarded the VicRoads Safety Innovation Award - for safety innovation shown on the M1 Monash Freeway Upgrade with the deployment of Crash Attenuator Trucks to protect workgroups exposed to traffic without safety barrier protection - the first substantial application of this technology on a major road project in Victoria.
Our Signals Branch received special commendation for their efforts during a recent storm in Perth which has been described as the city’s worst in storm in 50 years. “I would like to take this opportunity, on behalf of Main Roads WA, to thank you and your staff for your great efforts during the recent storm in Perth. 2010 Young Railway Engineer Award - Peter Munro (Project Engineer, Port Botany NSW) won the Railway Technical Society of Australasia (RTSA) Young Railway Engineer Award.
