Scope: Downer was engaged in June 2009 to build and maintain Telecom’s copper and fibre network for a ten-year term, providing comprehensive technical and engineering field services to Telecom New Zealand.
Services provided: Downer is responsible for the design, construction, maintenance, installation, network rehabilitation, customer installation activity, logistics and supply of Telecom’s copper and fibre network. This project employs approximately 1,000 field technicians and receives over 300,000 service management requests each year. Downer services over 30 per cent of Telecom’s national customers and has helped over 100,000 homes migrate to ADSL+2 and VDSL.
