The G6 Procurement Group is a joint initiative of six of the metropolitan local government councils in Adelaide. Downer’s South Australian road infrastructure operations has been providing integrated road surfacing treatments and solutions for the councils for over the past 14 years.
Nominations for the award were sent out to key representatives across the six councils and judged by a panel formed by the G6 Procurement Group Board.
G6 Procurement Manager Nick Leaver acknowledged Downer’ long standing relationship with the councils and the company’s sustainable solutions and surfacing products.
“Downer is our sole primary supplier for our councils’ road network which expands almost four thousand kilometres. A progressive contract partner, Downer continually works with our G6 contract development team to develop not only roads that last, but roads that are more sustainable.
“Recently Downer has laid roads for the City of Salisbury which incorporated various recycled products and has worked closely with the City of Onkaparinga to develop a leading edge road asset management program, ” Mr Leaver said.
The awards were announced at a ceremony at the Adelaide Wine Centre on the 3 August 2012. Downer General Manager SA/NT Simon Abrahams accepted a certificate of recognition on behalf of Downer.
